As we draw towards the end of yet another year, TV buffs will be looking back on some of the top series of the last twelve months.

There have been many big titles released this year across a number of platforms, streaming giant Netflix among them.

We've already taken a look at the most popular films to stream on Netflix this year, according to the folks in Facebook group Netflix Bangers, but now it's time to take a look at series.

So, without further ado and in no particular order, here are the top ten Netflix series this year according to viewers.

All The Light We Cannot See

This period drama follows a German soldier and blind French woman across borders and wartime in World War Two.

The series is based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr.

A synopsis of the series reads: "In the final days of WWII, the paths of a blind French girl and a German soldier collide."

Who is Erin Carter?

An action thriller starring Evin Ahmad.

A synopsis of the show reads: "The high-octane thriller series stars Evin Ahmad as Erin Carter, a British expat teacher in Barcelona with a dangerous secret and an arsenal of tough moves.

"When Erin singlehandedly fends off a pair of gunmen during a supermarket robbery, she chalks it up to protective maternal instincts.

Criminal Code

A drama following a group of federal agents tracking down a criminal organisation.

The series stars Maeve Jinkings, Rômulo Braga, and Thomás Aquino.

A synopsis of Criminal Code reads: "To crack the code of an investigation into a larger-than-life robbery, federal agents need to get creative."

One Piece

An adaption of the manga of the same time showing a young pirate's thrilling adventure.

Starring Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, and Mackenyu.

A synopsis of the show reads: "With his straw hat and ragtag crew, young pirate Monkey D. Luffy goes on an epic voyage for treasure in this live-action adaptation of the popular manga."

Dear Child

This thriller sees someone trying to resolve a years-old mystery.

The show stars Kim Riedle, Naila Schuberth and Sammy Schrein.

A synopsis of the show reads: "A mysterious woman's escape from her harrowing captivity points investigators toward the dark truth behind an unsolved disappearance 13 years earlier."

A Nearly Normal Family

This drama follows a seemingly normal family as their world unravels.

It stars Alex Karlsson Tyrefors, Lo Kauppi, and Björn Bengtsson.

The Lincoln Lawyer (season 2)

The legal thriller continues into its second season.

This dark horror is a tribute to the work of iconic writer Edgar Allen Poe.

The Railway Men

This drama follows a group of people in the wake of the gas disaster in Bhopal in India in 1984.

It stars R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, and Divyenndu.
