Netflix's Beckham documentary has been making headlines for its candid revelations about the football legend. And now, fans have been left gobsmacked after learning who directed it.
The four-part documentary series — which was released on the streaming platform on Wednesday (4 October) — follows David Beckham's rise to football stardom and no stone has been left unturned.
As well as charting the ups and downs of Becks' football career, David and wife Victoria also break their silence on his alleged 'affair,' saying the media attention at the time was the 'hardest period' for the couple.

The series' synopsis for the Netflix series reads: "Beckham, a four-part documentary series, tells the inside story of a global football star and cultural icon.
"David Beckham is one of the most known names on the planet, yet few people know who he really is. From his humble working-class beginnings in east London, his drive and determination to win, and the battle to find balance between ambition, love and family, David’s story is one of immense ups and downs.
"The series takes you on that rollercoaster and builds a surprising, personal and definitive story of one of the most recognisable and scrutinised athletes of all time."
It was truly only the best for Becks as behind the scenes of the documentary worked a team of award-winning crew members, including one familiar face that has left fans blown away.
Credited as a director and producer for the series is Fisher Stevens, who is known for his portrayal of Hugo in HBO's Succession, amongst other projects.
As well as acting in Wes Anderson flicks like The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Isle of Dogs (2018), The French Dispatch (2021) and Asteroid City (2023), Fisher is also an Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, bagging an Oscar in 2010 for The Cove.
And some die-hard Friends fans may recognise him for his cameo as Roger the therapist in the first series.
Upon learning about his involvement in Beckham, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their shock.
"How weird that Hugo from Succession produced and directed the Beckham doc," one person wrote.
"Hugo from Succession directing 'Beckham' = big W," said another.
And a third added: "The Beckham documentary series is so good also I feel so uncultured but is that Hugo from Succession doing this and such???????"
While a fourth wrote: The Beckham documentary is great. My nostalgia for that period of football is something else. It’s done so well. And the fact it’s done by Hugo from Succession is just [chef's kiss GIF]."
