TV lovers have been left so impressed by a series that they ended up binging it all in a matter of days.

Sometimes, when you're watching a new TV show, it's not enough to watch one episode or two or even three or four.

You can be sprawled out on the sofa just to catch up, only to find that you've unintentionally watched a whole night's worth of television—after all, once you start a new episode, you might as well finish it, right?

It seems that one series on Netflix has enthralled viewers enough to keep them watching for an entire season several nights on the trot.

The show of the hour is Animal Kingdom, an American crime drama about a family living in Oceanside, California.

The 2016 six-part series is based on the 2010 Australian film of the same name, which was inspired by the real life of the Pettingill family.

Animal Kingdom centres on Joshua 'J' Cody after he moves in with estranged relatives following the death of his mother when he is 17 years old.

Viewers can expect all manner of criminal shenanigans as the family, led by matriarch Janine 'Smurf' Cody, pursues heists and other activities to earn money.

The series also follows Smurf's origins as she grows up in 1977, 1984, 1992, and 1999.

Viewers were left thoroughly impressed by the show and took to the Facebook group Netflix Bangers to share their thoughts.

One person posted: "The only thing that's missing in this show, is the 7th season, or even more.

"The characters were complex, the acting was believable, the heists were clever and interesting.

"The main story line was gripping and the flashback memory storyline was just as gripping and brought everything together. A perfect show. I would give it six stars if i could.

"Hoping for a spin off."

While a second claimed to have watched the whole series in a week: "We binged the entire series in a week or so.

"I was on a roller coaster of emotion."

A third didn't quite manage a week, but still finished it quickly: "Completely obsessed with this show!!

"And I’d never even heard of it when it was current. Discovered it this year and watched all seasons in a month or less."

And a fourth called it 'amazing', adding: "I cried at the end."

Animal Kingdom is also available to watch on Amazon Prime.
