Tonight marked the 2023 Oscars, where numerous memorable moments unfolded, from Michelle Yeoh winning Best Actress to Ke Huy Quan marking his amazing comeback.

But one thing you might not have noticed is the fact that a movie studio absolutely dominated the 95th Academy Awards, despite the fact that it was only founded 10 years ago.

And we're not exaggerating when we say 'dominated'.

The indie company is behind films that won - take a deep breath - Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

It also won all four acting categories, marking a first in Oscars history.

Now, we're not going to leave you hanging any longer – the studio in question is A24.

Besides the Oscars, the company, founded in 2012 by Daniel Katz, David Fenkel and John Hodges, has distributed and produced an array of universally acclaimed hits, including Ari Aster's Hereditary and Midsommar.

In 2022 alone, it helped to create some of the hottest movies, including Aftersun, The Whale and Everything Everywhere All at Once, with all three landing a number of victories tonight (March 13).

The latter film earned itself the most prestigious award at the event: Best Picture.

Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis were also honoured with Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively for their roles in the multiverse sci-fi.

What's more, Yeoh made history as the first Asian woman to earn the title.

    A24 made Oscars history tonight.

Ke Huy Quan, who portrayed Waymond Wang, marked his comeback with the Best Supporting Actor honour.

And if that weren't enough, Everything's director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert were announced as the Academy Award's Best Director(s) of 2023.

The production was also given a mention too, earning the award for Best Editing.

It's no surprise everyone, everywhere is making the same joke I just did all at once.

As for A24's The Whale, Brendan Fraser completed his Brenaissance when he took to the stage to accept his trophy for Best Actor.

The psychological drama also topped the list in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling category.

Although most viewers were focused on the stars front and center at the event, A24's victory didn't go unnoticed.

    Twitter

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "A24 won every single acting award at the #Oscars."

Another noted, "A24 wins all four acting categories, a first for any studio in Oscar history."

"I can't recall an Oscars year in which the same studio won every single key race it ran in," added a third. "An insane night and first decade for A24."

That's quite the achievement, but not surprising given the high calibre of indie movies the studio continues to pedal and bring to the big screen.
