Everything shown in ‘violent’ unreleased Daredevil trailer shown at D23 as Jon Bernthal returns as Punisher

Daredevil and The Punisher are back, along with some intriguing new characters

Fans got their first look at upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again last night with an ultra-violent trailer.

The series is a reboot of Netflix's beloved R-rated Daredevil series.

New and returning characters were teased at Disney's D23 expo, along with a very unlikely team-up and a promising update about the show's future.

The trailer, which featured the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, has not been released but fear not – as we were there and can give you the lowdown on the trailer.

Returning cast

Strap in kids, because listing everyone returning from Netflix’s Daredevil is going to take a hot minute.

The entire main cast still alive by the end of season three are coming back more or less, with Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson returning as Foggy.

As well as this, we also see Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, the villainous sniper who appeared in season three of the Netflix show, being led by police in manacles.

The big return that many fans have been waiting for though, and which was not guaranteed, is Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.

Advert

Bernthal stole the show in season two of Daredevil to the extent that Netflix commissioned two fan-favourite series of his own show.

We see Castle with a more grizzled look, a full beard and much longer hair as he comes at Daredevil with a hammer before realising who he is.

New characters

The show will have a tough time of needing to give enough time to returning characters whilst bringing in new and exciting parts of the comics.

Advert

One of these most obvious in the trailer is ‘White Tiger’, a Marvel street-level character long rumoured to appear in the Netflix series.

While it's unclear who will play her in the show, the character is clearly shown in the trailer.

Joining her is Muse, who will be a villain in Daredevil: Born Again.

In the comics Muse is a deranged artist, creating graffiti from the bodies of his victims.

The trailer hints at Kingpin and Matt Murdock being forced to set aside their considerable differences and work together to fight a greater threat, who may end up being Muse.

More to come

The biggest reveal of the panel may not have been the return of Charlie Cox, The Punisher coming back, or anything in the actual trailer.

Advert

Disney confirmed while presenting the panel that this was the trailer… for season one, announcing de facto that a season two is on the way.

This was confirmed moments later by Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige, who said season two will be shooting soon.

Daredevil: Born Again season one releases March 1, 2025.
