People shocked by Kim Kardashian's acting in new American Horror Story series

Viewers of American Horror Story were left shocked by one of the guest stars on the show.

Kim Kardashian became the latest celebrity to guest star in the hit TV series, with the show previously bringing in Lady Gaga.

Fans were intrigued by the decision to cast the star of The Kardashians in the popular series, with some expressing concern that her acting skills might not be suited to the role.

Despite the scepticism, now that the show has aired, viewers have been shocked by her performance.

One scene shows Kardashian's character, the publicist of an Oscar nominee, berating her client over her apparent lack of drive and enthusiasm for trying to win an Oscar and putting on a brave face after the effort that her team have put in. It's all very aspirational stuff.

The scene has left viewers surprised.

But people aren't shocked because the performance is shockingly bad, they're shocked because it's actually much better than they expected, and Kardashian is good.

In fairness, Kardashian is no stranger to being in front of the camera, though admittedly usually playing herself in one of the many reality shows she has starred in.

The role is also clearly one to which she is well suited – a besuited Hollywood businesswoman talking about the need to plaster on a smile at inane red carpet questions? It's not a far cry from Kardashian's own glamorous life.

Nonetheless, people have been left impressed by Kardashian's performance.

The latest instalment of American Horror Story is based on the book Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine. It follows the story of rising star Anna Victoria Alcott, played by Emma Roberts, as she become increasingly fearful that someone is trying to sabotage her attempts at motherhood.

Kardashian takes on the role of Siobhan, the high-flying, suit-wearing publicist representing the budding star in between delivering withering put downs of flow industry professionals over the phone.

The aforementioned inspirational monologue is delivered in Kardashian's signature bone-dry vocal fry. While it is a little wooden sometimes, it does clearly communicate the clipped and no nonsense publicist.

And people were impressed.

One person replied: "She’s nailing the level of dead pan camp that AHS works well on. Not bad."

Another wrote: "Her delivery is good, the character is very close to herself so far. I wonder where her character will go down the line."

A third posted: "I am genuinely disturbed by how good Kim’s acting is here."

Sure, it definitely is stunt casting to bring in a big name, but it's hard to deny that Kardashian held her own.
