Jenna Ortega is copping flak for revealing she had Covid-19 while shooting her iconic dance scene in Wednesday.

The famous jig of the actor dancing to The Cramps' 'Goo Goo Muck’ in the show is all over social media at the moment.

However, it’s now the subject of a bit of controversy.

In a recent interview with NME, Ortega confessed she shot the sequence while waiting for the results of a Covid-19 test.

She said: “I’d gotten the song about a week before and I just pulled from whatever I could… it’s crazy because it was my first day with Covid so it was awful to film.”

As the actor was still waiting on confirmation, her health quickly declined as she began experiencing pain and a sore throat that morning.

She said: “I woke up and – it’s weird, I never get sick and when I do it’s not very bad – I had the body aches.

“I felt like I’d been hit by a car and that a little goblin had been let loose in my throat and was scratching the walls of my esophagus.

"They were giving me medicine between takes because we were waiting on the positive result.”

However, the production company, MGM, confirmed to the outlet in an email that ‘strict Covid protocols were followed and once the positive test was confirmed production removed Jenna from set’.

But people have been left horrified that the actor carried on with filming despite feeling sick.

One person on Twitter wrote: “I love Jenna but why would she expose herself and the director like this, r we supposed to applaud them for this wtf.”

Another said: “That's not the flex they think it is.”

A third commented: “I love this show and loved this scene but she should’ve been at home recovering and not potentially spreading Covid.”

However, others quickly came to her defence, as one person shared: “Idk why y’all blaming Jenna when you shouldn’t making someone work if they’re that sick.”

While another commented: “I don't see how it's her fault and not on Netflix's production team that they decided to keep filming while waiting for results when she clearly spoke up about it and had clear Covid symptoms and likely she couldn't leave due to a contract.”
