Homelander from The Boys becomes one of the biggest memes on the internet

The star of Amazon Prime Video's original series The Boys has been getting a lot of unexpected love online lately.

Homelander, played by Antony Starr, is the main antagonist of the series and known for a very colourful range of facial expressions, not to mention his frequently horrific actions.

Fans have definitely taken advantage of it to their own gain with some genuinely funny memes online.

The most recent examples have all been a result of season three's recent airing, with the season finale premiering on 8 July.

I'll stop waffling for a bit and share a few examples as you're clearly curious and/or very close to clicking off this article.

There's been so many tweets now featuring various Homelander reactions that not only are there dedicated accounts solely for posting his reactions, but the actual The Boys Twitter account has responded to it all.

So yeah, it's safe to say it's all gone pretty viral. It's not too surprising, as fans of the show will be having to find a way to keep themselves entertained in the wait between seasons.

It's been confirmed that a fourth season is on the way, but it may not be coming any time soon.

Season three came out in June 2022, after a nearly two year wait thanks to the pandemic. The series has been getting more and more popular since it started in 2019, and it boasts an impressive 8.7/10 rating on IMDb showing it's living up to the hype.

If you haven't given it a watch yet, the basic premise is essentially 'What happens if superheroes were massive d**kheads?'.

It exists in a fictional modern-day USA and follows Hughie, played by Jack Quaid, as he deals with his girlfriend being killed in cold blood by a 'supe'.

This 'supe' is part of the ultimate superhero team 'The Seven', a Justice League rip-off.

Whilst the Justice League is headed up by Superman, the equivalent in this universe is Homelander, the man with the extremely viral face.

He's an incredibly powerful supe, but also a massively evil and f**ked up man who doesn't really have anyone who can properly stop him.

Hughie joins forces with Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, and his team of anti-supe guerillas called The Boys. Yes, you guessed it, that's where the series gets its name.

It also acts as a very no-holds-barred parody of modern-day America with some extremely cutting parallels that are drawn throughout.

To complete it all, the series is very bloody, gory and filled with very dark humour.

If you like the sound of all that, I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch. You could be the one posting Homelander reaction memes next...
