Gwyneth Paltrow has teased the possibility that she may return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe one day.

These days, Paltrow is not in the acting and film scene as much, with the MCU star spending much of her time as full time entrepreneur as head of lifestyle brand Goop.

But while she has taken a rather different career path in recent months, superhero geeks have always hoped that Paltrow could return one day to the MCU.

For those unaware, Paltrow stars in the MCU as Pepper Potts, Tony Stark's personal assistant who of course later becomes a love interest.

That all started with the 2008 Iron Man movie, which funnily enough marked the start of the MCU.

Paltrow went on to portray Potts in two more Iron Man films, before reprising the character once more in the Avengers franchise.

The actor last played Potts in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, which saw her bid farewell to Iron Man/Stark in the finale.

But while many fans thought that was the end of Paltrow in the MCU, it appears that the actor has somewhat opened the door for the possibility of Potts returning in the future.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Goop podcast with fellow Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson, Paltrow opened up about her potential future in the MCU.

Johansson asked the Oscar-winner if she was 'done with Marvel', to which Paltrow replied: "I think so!"

Didn't sound so sure, did it?

Well, the actor added more fuel to the fire, with her adding: "I mean I didn’t die, so I guess they can always ask me to [come back]."

The actor last appeared in the MCU in 2019.

Johansson then suggested that Paltrow could come back into the fold at some point in the future, to which Paltrow joked: "Really? As 64-year-old Pepper Potts! How great."

By the way, Paltrow is 50 at the moment, so she obviously doesn't see a Potts return in the near future.

But while Paltrow has kept the door open for a possible return to the MCU, Johansson has well and truly shut it.

Speaking on the same podcast, the Black Widow actor, who appeared in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and her solo movie Black Widow said she has not interest in returning.

“I’m done,” Johansson said. “Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do.

"Also coming back and playing a character again and again, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”
