Barack Obama is taking Netflix viewers around the world's best national parks, and everyone's saying the same thing.

A number of celebrities and famous figures have lent their voice to nature documentaries over the years: Sigourney Weaver actually voiced the US version of Planet Earth for a time; Will Smith explored the planet in Welcome to Earth; and fans got Down to Earth with Zac Efron in 2020.

Now, the former US president has teamed up with Netflix for Our Great National Parks.

The five-part documentary series landed on the streaming platform yesterday (13 April), showcasing the 'world’s most breathtaking national parks and the wildlife that live there,' as per Netflix's description.

Its synopsis reads: "Spanning five continents, the series brims with wonder, humour and optimism as each episode tells the story of a national park through the lives of its wildest residents - both big and exceptionally small - and explores our changing relationship with wilderness."

Obama - who protected more public lands and waters than any US president - narrates the series, describing it as a 'journey through the natural wonders of our shared birthright'.

Within a day of it being added to Netflix, it seems everyone is making the same observation: Obama's voice is incredibly soothing.

One user wrote: "I am watching a Netflix show - Our Great National Parks... narrated by Barack Obama and it’s so comforting hearing this man’s iconic voice."

Another tweeted: "OMG you guys I’m watching Barack Obama’s Our Great National Parks and it’s amazing. He narrates the entire episode and his voice is so comforting. Plus it’s just an amazing show. It’s on Netflix."

A third wrote: "Obama is gonna have a 95 percent approval rating after people see this docuseries on Netflix lmaooo dude has the best voice in the game."

A fourth tweeted: "I knew former President Obama had an excellent voice, but he's narrating The F**k out of this Netflix nature documentary."

A fifth wrote: "Buying a Netflix subscription for hours of Obama’s voice > buying a Netflix subscription for any other reason."

Speaking to Today about the new series, Obama said: "I'm hoping that we’re going to learn something, not just about how to maintain national parks, but why it’s so important to deal with issues like climate change that threaten the entire planet.

"I think that the generation of our kids are more mindful of how we haven’t always taken care of the planet.

"And with climate change affecting everything, they are demanding action. Nature is more resilient than we think, if we are intentional about it."

Our Great National Parks is available to stream on Netflix now.
