Son of original Snow White director slams 'insulting' Disney remake with Rachel Zegler

The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs director's son has slammed the upcoming remake.

The son of original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs director has slammed the upcoming remake that would have his father and Walt Disney 'turning in their graves'.

David Hand - whose father of the same name collaborated with Walt Disney to make the classic 1937 animation - has slammed the new 'woke' remake, set for a 2024 release.

One controversial change to the new live-action movie is reports suggesting that the 'seven dwarfs' will be replaced by 'magical creatures'.

Some rumours have also suggested that the film won’t be a love story.

Rachel Zegler, 22, will star as the titular character and has criticised the original plot, calling it 'creepy and stalker-ish'.

Rachel Zegler revealed she wasn't the biggest fan of the original Snow White story.

The upcoming American musical fantasy film is directed by Marc Webb, with a screenplay by Barbie's Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.

In an interview with Extra TV, the West Side Story star said: "The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so.

"There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn't do that this time.

"I just mean that it's no longer 1937. She's not going to be saved by the prince and she's not going to be dreaming about true love."

And now, Mr Hand - who worked as a designer for Disney in the 90s - told The Telegraph he 'disagrees' with the critics.

The 91-year-old claims that a lot of the younger generation 'have never seen the original' and 'don’t know what they’re talking about'.

“I mean, it’s a whole different concept, and I just totally disagree with it, and I know my dad and Walt would also very much disagree with it,” Hand explained.

“I think it’s pathetic that people feel that way... these are art forms in the world of film today.”

The 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' came out in 1937.

He also doesn't understand why Disney is 'trying to do something new with something that was such a great success earlier'.

He added: “I’m afraid of what they’re going to do with the early films... their thoughts are just so radical now.

“They change the stories, they change the thought processes of the characters, they just aren’t the original stories anymore. They’re making up new woke things and I’m just not into any of that.

“I find it quite frankly a bit insulting that they may have done with some of these classic films.

“There’s no respect for what Disney did and what my dad did... I think Walt and he would be turning in their graves.”
