Netflix viewers are gripped by the sinister new series Devil in Ohio, with viewers saying it’s ‘so creepy’, ‘dark’ and ‘riveting’. Sounds good to me.

The eight-part thriller series, which landed on Netflix last week, centres on hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis (played by Emily Deschanel) who helps protect a young patient and cult escapee Mae Dodd (played by Madeleine Arthur).

However, after taking the girl into her home she soon realises she’s put herself and her family in danger. You can check out the trailer here:

The series is based on Daria Polatin’s book of the same name and Polatin worked on the show - so if you happen to be a fan of the book then you’ll more than likely be very happy with the series.

Although it was only released on 2 September, many fans were so gripped by the series they’ve already binged their way through and are full of praise for the show.

Posting on Twitter, one said: “Watching Emily Deschanel's new limited series, Devil in Ohio. It's dark and riveting.”

Another wrote: “I found a new series called Devil in Ohio on Netflix. It's very intriguing with sinister tones. If you're looking for something to hold your interest, I would highly recommend giving this a try.”

Someone else commented: “I will now be watching Devil in Ohio on REPEAT. That is all.

“If you enjoy thrillers, cults, & crime this the series for you. On Netflix!”

The Devil in Ohio is streaming now.

While a fourth said: “We were watching Devil in Ohio tonight and I literally had to turn on all the lights as I was walking around. SO CREEPY!”

It’s been such a hit that some fans are already demanding Netflix made a second series.

“I keep thinking about the Devil in Ohio. Hoping there will be a second season @MadeleineArthur killed it,” one fan said.

And another pleaded: “Okay just watched all of Devil in Ohio in one day - watch it!!! I am gagged gooped and gobsmacked I need a second season right now.”

And creator Polatin hasn’t ruled out the prospect of a second season, saying ‘anything is possible’.

She told TV Insider: “We wrote it as a limited series. We wrote beginning, middle, and end. We put all our cards on the table.

"But the story naturally has a couple of questions at the end. Where did the cult go, and what’s going to happen with Mae and Suzanne?”
