Netflix users are saying new '10/10' series is so good they're 'bingeing' it in one day

The show has been compared to some of the all-time greats, and it stars Suranne Jones as the Prime Minister of the UK

A new Netflix series is being hailed as a '10/10' watch that fans are 'bingeing' in just one day.

The high-stakes drama has emerged as a surprise smash hit, drawing comparisons to the platform’s most gripping thrillers, and is just five episodes long.

However, in the less than five-hour showing, the political drama packs in more twists, tension, and emotional stakes than many shows manage across entire seasons.

The plot centres on a chillingly plausible crisis - the British prime minister’s husband is kidnapped during a high-stakes diplomatic summit. At the same time, the French President receives a series of escalating threats.

With two nations at risk, the two leaders must decide whether to collaborate or engage in a perilous game of political brinkmanship.

Leading the cast is Suranne Jones, as British Prime Minister Abigail Dalton, delivering what fans have described as one of her most commanding performances yet, while Julie Delpy plays the French President.

The show we're talking about is Netflix's latest limited series, Hostage.

Taking to Twitter to rave about the production, one user wrote: "Hostage on Netflix is so, so good. The Brits know how to make TV."

While another penned: "Hostage on Netflix . 10/10," while a third added: "Watching Hostage on Netflix. Bingeing last two episodes. So good. I’d like to elect Suranne Jones as PM."

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the series boasts an 78 per cent approval rating, but it's the viewers who are making the most noise online.

“This one feels like ten episodes crammed into five, and I mean that as a compliment,” one fan wrote.

Another added: “Just finished it in one sitting - couldn’t look away! Suranne Jones is absolutely phenomenal.”

Speaking about the show herself, lead actor Jones told Tudum: "I’m thrilled to be on Netflix, in something I’m really proud of. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

"We’d talked about projects previously, but for me, it was about finding the right thing. Hostage was perfect - me and Matt together, backed up by this brilliant, supportive team. I loved it.”

While Matt Charman, who wrote the show - and who is also the creator of Bridge of Spies, added: "I’ve been dying to find the right story to tell with Suranne, and I honestly believe what she’s done with this character is going to blow the Netflix audience away.

"An embattled British PM in the middle of a fight for her country and her family - she’s fierce, ruthless, and you can’t take your eyes off of her.”

Hostage is available to stream on Netflix now.
