Terrifying true story Demons and Saviours based on ‘Poltergeist Girl’ is leaving viewers freaked out

Demons and Saviors is a twisted true crime documentary, with a terrifying paranormal element which makes things even creepier

Halloween may be a few months away, but Hulu has just dropped its spookiest documentary ever.

Part true crime doc, part paranormal investigation, Demons and Saviors explores the strange case of Christina Boyer – a psychic and convicted child killer.

The documentary has left viewers terrified as it asks whether Boyer, also known as ‘the poltergeist girl’, is a master manipulator or a victim of bizarre circumstances.

This twisted tale begins over 40 years ago, with Boyer growing up in a strict religious household in Bible-belt America.

As a young teen, she suddenly became famous for the eerie goings-on at her Ohio home with lights flicking and objects flying across the room.

Word spread throughout the sheltered community, with the then-teen gaining the nickname ‘the poltergeist girl’ for her alleged psychic abilities – which reportedly included moving things with her mind.

To make matters worse, Boyer’s adoptive parents quickly became convinced that their daughter was possessed – even calling a priest to perform an exorcism.

However, things would rapidly take an even darker turn.

Boyer became know for her strange powers.

Shortly after fleeing her home, Boyer would become a single mom to a daughter, Amber, and entered into a relationship with David Herrin.

Tragically, the infant would be found unresponsive at the family home while under the care of Herrin – just three years later.

Boyer was eventually convicted of abusing and killing her child, with the documentary questioning whether she is a calculated manipulator or a tortured soul.

Boyer denies killing her child.

As the series looks back at the intense media interest surrounding Boyer and its potential contribution to the verdict, the documentary has left audiences absolutely terrified.

Reacting on X (formerly Twitter), one viewer wrote: “Demons and Saviors on Hulu.. true crime doc ppl.. whew honey this is a lot.”

Another was in shock over Boyer's tragic childhood, tweeting: “Everyone in her life was hyper-religious so of course just chalked it up to her being possessed or some s**t, and they keep freaking her out about it with *their* fear and not helping her actually figure it out AND IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE!”

Meanwhile, a third claimed the woman was part of a complex police cover-up and made a case for her innocence.

They wrote: “The cops were fraudulent and protected the real murderer….The Lawyer they gave her didn't care for her at all. He was corrupt and railroaded her.”

But is Boyer an angel or demon?
