Ana de Armas admits she is quitting action movies

After her latest John Wick spin-off film, Ana de Armas says she is quitting action movies

While she has starred in the likes of Blonde in recent times, there is no question that Ana De Armas is known for her roles in action films.

From appearing in the James Bond movie No Time to Die as Paloma, to roles in the The Gray Man and Blade Runner 2049.

It is safe to say that de Armas is well accustomed to the genre, but that looks set to be stopping rather soon.

In a recent interview, de Armas revealed that after her new movie Ballerina (a John Wick spin-off), she will be quitting action films.

For those unaware of Ballerina, it will tell a story during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick 4.

In the movie, de Armas plays the main protagonist of Rooney - an assassin out to get revenge for the death of her family.

But Ballerina appears to be the actor's last action film for a while, as she revealed she will now take a more focused approach to choosing her projects in the future.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the No Time to Die actor explained that this would involve taking a step back from action and thriller films.

She said: "After Bond, there was kind of a wave of all these action roles, and that was fun. I chose from the ones that I thought were more exciting or with people I wanted to work with.

"I feel like Ballerina is going to be the end of that, at least for now, because I’m craving a wave of Blonde-type films.

The actor continued: "I want to do work with directors and do character work. I have had the opportunity to meet directors that I want to work with.

"The people that I’m getting access to is changing, and that makes me very excited."

Elsewhere in the interview, de Armas touched on the much-talked about 2022 release, Blonde.

De Amas was asked by Vanity Fair if Blonde's portrayal of Hollywood had made her reconsider what it is like working in the industry.

She said: "Oh, yeah, for sure. The sad part for me - and the most challenging - is to see not only what happened in the ’40s and ’50s and ’60s but to see patterns continue to happen.

"It’s definitely made me more protective of myself and set boundaries and know my limits for how much I’m willing to give - and how much I want to keep to myself.

"But at the same time, it clearly is a place where incredible opportunities happen."
