Identical twin sisters marry twin brothers which creates unique family relationship for their babies

The couples' sons are cousins but also genetic siblings

A set of identical twins who married and had children with another set of identical twins are now the proud parents of super rare ‘quaternary twins’.

There’s a fair bit to try and get your head around there, so let's start from the top.

Identical twins Briana and Brittany Salyers, got married to twins Jeremy and Josh at a joint ceremony in 2018, after the brothers popped the question at the same time.

Speaking about their very specific quest to find love, Jeremy previously said: “Me and Josh always knew we had to find our twins if we were going to get married — and we told each other that we'll never be able to unless we find a set of twins that we could fall in love with and marry.

“We got lucky enough to find them, we couldn't be happier.”

Now happily married, the two couples live together in a mansion in Virginia.

In an interview with People earlier this year, Brittany explained how they keep things harmonious at home.

"If Josh and Jeremy are in an argument, Briana and I try not to get into it," said Brittany.

"If Briana and I are in a disagreement, Josh and Jeremy try to not get into it. That's probably good advice for anybody who's married."

In 2021, Brittany and Josh welcomed their little boy Jett and just four months later Briana and Jeremy had baby Jax.

As you probably understand, the two little boys are cousins, given that their mums (and dads) are siblings - but thanks to the weird world of genetics, the infants are also quaternary twins.

Speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of giving birth, the twins said: “We are so grateful to experience overlapping pregnancies and to be able to raise children of the same age together.

“Our children will not only be cousins, but full genetic siblings and quaternary multiples!”

Jax and Jett were born just weeks apart.

According to Web MD, quaternary twins happen ‘when one set of identical twins have children with another set of twins within a short period of time, usually less than nine months’.

Although they’re called the ‘twins’ it’s a bit of a misnomer as the two children don’t share a parent or the same DNA. Legally, they are cousins, but genetically, they’re closer to siblings born to the same parents. And physically, the children might also look very similar - as is the case with Jett and Jax.

Briana told People, that the two boys share a room and have a close relationship with all four adults in their lives.

"Sometimes they both want one mom, or they'll turn around and both want the other mom," she said.
