Stephen King is one of the most acclaimed storytellers of the modern age but one little habit could have cost him his marriage.
King has been telling spooky stories for quite a long time and you would genuinely be surprised just how many have been adapted for the big screen or at least been a point of inspiration for others.
But despite his many successes, once upon a time all was not jolly in the King household, as his wife once threatened a divorce, according to the author.
And this was all because of one song, 'Mambo No.5'.

The catchy tune was recorded by Lou Bega, a German singer, and was rooted in a 1949 instrumental single by Dámaso Pérez Prado that Bega sampled for his rewritten vocal rendition.
But if you are old enough to remember (the hit song came out in 1999), you’ll likely recognize it as the song where the singer calls out women’s names, saying he needs them in his life.

‘A little bit of Monica in my life, A little bit of Erica by my side, A little bit of Rita's all I need'... you get the picture.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, King revealed just how important that song was to him and how it actually caused a little bit of a rift in his marriage.
When asked if the rumors of his love for the hit song were true, King replied: “Oh, yeah. Big Time.
“My wife threatened to divorce me. I played that a lot. I had the dance mix.
“I loved those extended play things and I played both sides of it. And one of them was just total instrumental. And I played that thing until my wife just said, ‘One more time, and I’m going to f****** leave you.”

So I think it is safe to say the song really got under the skin of Tabitha King... mind you the couple had been married almost 30 years at that point, so that is quite the threat.

But lucky for King, no divorce ever occurred.
During his interview, as he promoted his newest book, Holly, King also spoke about how important music is for him while he works.

He added: “When I write, there are things that I can listen to a lot,” he said. “And a lot of it is techno stuff or disco stuff, but techno in particular. There’s this group called LCD Soundsystem, and I love that. Fatboy Slim is somebody else. I can just listen to that stuff.
“If you tried to write and listen to Leonard Cohen, how the f*** would you do that? Because you’d have to listen to the words and you’d have to listen to what he’s saying. But with some of the techno stuff, or KC and the Sunshine Band, Gloria Gaynor, it’s all good.”
