I mean... would you take that offer?

Celebrities get all sorts of odd requests from fans, but Simon Cowell’s has certainly got to be up there as one of the weirdest.

Simon Cowell has been a big name in the music industry for years and secured legions of fans through his popular talent competition shows, like America's Got Talent and American Idol, or if you are truly cultured, Far Far Away Idol on the Shrek 2 DVD extras.

Of course, being famous comes some odd interactions, and in a recent appearance on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast, he outlined a few notable instances.

Cowell built a reputation as being the 'mean judge', and he explained that as he became more well known, people would often come up to him in the street and ask him to be 'rude to them' - a request he would always turn down.

He said this request was particularly popular in the US, but the request for him to watch a pair have sex easily trumps this request.

Cowell recalled the moment, saying: “I was in a restaurant and this guy comes up to me and he says ‘love your show, will you take a picture’.

“I’m like sure, he says this is my wife, I'm like nice to meet you [then he asks] ‘would you judge us having sex’.

“I’m like, are you winding me up, he says 'no, we’ll pay you'.

“I ask how much and it actually was a lot of money. I thought... do I... no, I just can’t do it.”

It is very easy to assume that it was just a prank, but if they were serious... that is a lot of money to blow on a very interesting kink.

The host seemed to know the story and had Simon confirm that he was offered $150,000 to judge the couple and joked he had found his ‘moral scruple’.

Simon added that it was all so bizarre, but said he has enjoyed some of the interactions with the public and fans.

He continued: “That is something I have really enjoyed, weirdly, is that I am very shy, I can’t go to a pre-party, its my worst thing in the world, making small talk with people I don’t know.

“If we have a common subject I am pretty good, but years ago If I had to go to a party and talk to people I didn’t know it is torture.

“So once I was known by people it was kind of good because it broke the ice with people you meet, so instantly they know you, you are talking about something I like, which is you know the shows or the artists so it kind of helped me with my shyness.”
