Robert De Niro breaks his silence after welcoming his seventh child at 79

While the new addition to the De Niro clan has stunned fans, the actor maintains it was all ‘planned’.

Move over Nick Cannon because Robert De Niro has just welcomed his seventh child at 79 years old.

While the new addition to the De Niro clan has stunned fans, the legendary actor maintains it was all ‘planned’.

During the premiere of About My Father, the actor was asked by a ET if he was surprised to become a father again just one year shy of his 80th birthday.

He replied with a resounding 'no' and added: “How you could not plan that kind of thing?”

“I'm ok with it,” the actor said when asked if he was excited.

When asked if becoming a parent ever gets any easier, he admitted he’s ‘good with it’.

ET Canada's Brittnee Blair proceeded to ask the screen icon if any of his children refer to him as a ‘cool dad’.

“You know, my kids disagree with me at times, and they’re respectful. My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know," De Niro replied.

"And my youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is."

A representative for the actor confirmed the birth of his newborn to The Associative Press earlier this week.

However, they did not reveal the baby’s sex or the mother’s identity.

The Raging Bull star is also a parent to Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46, from his first marriage to Diahne Abbott; and twins Julian and Aaron, 27; Elliot, 24; and Helen Grace, 11, from his second marriage to Grace Hightower.

However, De Niro and Hightower separated in 2018.

The actor currently has several upcoming films set to be released, including his latest flick About My Father, in which he stars alongside Sebastian Maniscalco (The Irishman, Green Book), Leslie Bibb (Entourage) and Anders Holm (Workaholics).

Maniscalco plays a ficitonalized version of himself where he informs his traditional immigrant father, Salvo (played by De Niro), about his plans to propose to his American girlfriend, and Salvos suggests joining them for the romantic weekend alongside her parents.

However, the two families begin to clash, and chaos ensues, causing havoc to their summer holiday weekend plans.

I mean, planned or not, having a newborn baby is great PR for the movie. Props to De Niro’s publicist...

About My Father is set to be released theatrically May 26.
