Rebel Wilson says her Pitch Perfect contract prevented her from losing more than 4.5kg

She's opened up about often being cast as the ‘fat funny friend’ and never the ‘love interest’.

Rebel Wilson has revealed that her Perfect Pitch contract wouldn’t allow her to lose more than 10 pounds (4.5 kg).

During an interview with Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, the Aussie actor shared that she was contractually obliged to stay the same weight while playing ‘Fat Amy’.

“I couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight because I was in the contracts for that movie,” the actor said.

“You can’t lose, I think it’s not more than 10 pounds, or gain more than 10 pounds.”

She added: “Yeah, you have to kind of stay at the weight.

"It’s in your contract.”

Wilson added that she was never offended by the role as she was always ‘ballsy’ and 'confident'.

But she knew her figure pigeonholed her in Hollywood, as she would often be cast as the ‘fat funny friend’ and never the ‘love interest’.

However, the 42-year-old was urged to lose weight to increase her chances of fertility if she wanted to start a family.

“I went to see a fertility doctor, and he was like, ‘You’d have a much better chance with fertility if you were healthier,’” she said.

“It really hit me hard because I was living a fantastic bigger life.”

The comedian has previously revealed that she had lost 34.9 kg (77 pounds) during her fertility journey.

In Apple Fitness+ Time to Walk on Apple Watch, Wilson guides listeners on a 32-minute hike through Griffith Park in Los Angeles.

In the episode, she says: "My goal was just to get healthier and was to lose the body fat that my body didn't actually need and want ... I knew deep down I wasn't the healthiest version of myself."

According to EatingWell, Wilson attended a wellness retreat in her home country in 2020, where she said a doctor had advised her that for her body weight, walking was the best form of exercise.

Rather than trying to overcomplicate her workouts, Wilson stuck with hiking.

"It just made me think: 'OK I should take it a bit easier on myself, and just do it gently and do it lightly'. So in 2020, I lost weight but very, very gradually.

"Sometimes I kicked up things a notch with some workouts and went hard. But, the majority of the work for the year was just doing things like walking for an hour," she said, as per the outlet.
