Tom Brady makes shocking admission about 'mistake' he made with kids amid divorce from wife in emotional interview

Tom Brady spoke recently on a podcast about the 'mistake' he's made with his children

Tom Brady has made a surprising admission about the 'mistake' he made with his children following his divorce from ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen.

Netflix's The Roast of Tom Brady was watched by many this time last year, where many famous faces made risqué jokes about the NFL star.

His roast saw comedians Nikki Glaser, Tom Segura, Andrew Schulz, Bert Kreischer, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Sam Jay as well as some of Brady's former teammates Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Drew Bledsoe, all send some jokes his way.

Many comedians took aim at his marriage and divorce to Bündchen after the pair divorced in October 2022 following 13 years of marriage.

While NFL legend Brady has previously admitted he enjoyed the jokes aimed at himself, he was less comfortable with some of the other jibes and how they ultimately impacted his children.

Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Brady spoke about the Netflix show and his general thoughts on it nearly a year on from the roast night.

He said: "It was tough on my kids for sure. You don’t know what to expect and I love laughing at myself, it felt like I was in the locker room. And the harder people go at me, I’ll actually love it.

"If people make fun of you, then I know I’m good with them. And I don’t take myself too serious but I do understand that for my kids, that was really hard."

Brady added: "There are some things as a parent you f*** up and you don’t realize until after. We’re not perfect parents. There’s no perfect manual for it and you have to evaluate yourself as a parent too all the time.

"So even though I really enjoyed the show and the performances were incredible – and when you were in that moment, in that theatre that night at the Forum, it was electric. It was crazy.

"We got done and everybody was on cloud nine. And that moment I’ll never forget. And I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day, and I felt like a stake through the heart – and understandably."

Without specifying which jokes upset his children, Brady previously told The Pivot Podcast: “I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids."

The 47-year-old clarified that he would learn some lesson from the experience and 'be a better parent' as a result.

He added: “I’m going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it. At the same time, I’m happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun. If we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying.

"We should have more fun. What do we love? We love laughing in the locker room. Let’s do more of that and love each other and celebrate other people’s success.”
