The internet has been set alight with speculation after an 'insane' comment made by actor Timothée Chalamet.

The Dune star shared how he had watched a discussion involving another person that he 'definitely' would not name, where they were 'bragging about not having kids and how much time it afforded them to do other stuff'.

This sentiment, often described as being 'child-free', seemingly did not sit well with Chalamet, who told Vogue during a wide-ranging conversation that children 'could be on the radar'.

After seeing the child-free comment, he and his friend supposedly turned to one another and said: "Like, holy s**t. Oh my God. Bleak."

But while the 29-year-old was tight-lipped on who made the comment, internet sleuths seem to believe that they have figured it out - with some interpreting it as a veiled jab at comedy legend Seth Rogen.

Rogen, everyone's favorite award-winning weed-advocating actor and director, an admittedly small category, was widely lambasted by parenting advocates for similar-sounding comments a few years ago, leading many of the sleuths to apparently 'connect the dots'.

The 43-year-old, known for hits like Pineapple Express and Knocked Up, was previously attacked for sharing his enjoyment of a child-free lifestyle with his wife, Lauren Miller, 44.

During an interview with Howard Stern in 2021, Rogen said: "We have so much fun. I don’t know anyone who gets as much happiness out of their kids as we get out of our non-kids.

"Like we are f**king psyched all the time! We are laying in bed on Saturday morning smoking weed, watching movies naked.

"If we had kids, we could not be f**king doing this."

These comments caused some parents to flip out, stating that they were still able to enjoy a relaxing Saturday, which they said is often enhanced by the presence of their children.

Rogen addressed this again last year on Steven Bartlett's Diary of a CEO podcast, where he said: "There’s a whole huge thing I’m not doing, which is raising children.

"I’ve been around obviously a lot of children, I'm not ignorant to what it’s like. … Everyone I know has kids. I'm 40, you know? I know.

"Some of my friends have had kids for decades. Some people want kids, some people don't want kids."

This documented history of 'controversial' parenting comments led some fans to speculate that Chalamet was referring to Rogen when he called the sentiment 'bleak'. But others called the comments made by the 29-year-old, who is going out with mother-of-two Kylie Jenner, 28, 'insane'.

One Reddit user wrote: "Insane thing for a child-free MAN to say."

Another claimed: "He’s talking about Seth Rogen which is really disrespectful to Seth and his partner."

A third said: "People are just so normal about seth rogen and his wife’s choices. jeez."

Someone else commented: "So, there are people out there who want to be parents, and there are those who don’t."

And a final user penned: "Well personally I'm really enjoying my bleak life Timothee."

Chalamet made the remarks at the start of his press tour to promote his newest film, Marty Supreme, which is set to hit cinemas across the US on December 25.

UNILAD has contacted representatives of Chalamet for comment.
