Sydney Sweeney has given her response after a year of controversy regarding her supposed political beliefs, which has ended with some branding her as Hollywood's 'MAGA Barbie'.
The Euphoria star landed in hot water last year following her appearance in American Eagle's jean advertisement, which infamously proclaimed her to have 'great jeans' as a play on 'genes'.
However, this left many on social media questioning the ad's intentions, with many accusing it of using language reminiscent of eugenics.
The company has maintained that the advert was only about their jean products, adding in a statement on Instagram: "We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone."

Meanwhile, Sweeney herself also spoke on the reaction, saying it was a 'surprise'.
However, the ad got some support from the Trump administration, including the President himself, especially when he learned of Sweeney's supposed Republican status, which she has never officially confirmed.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, where she also revealed her new lingerie line, SYRN, the 28-year-old spoke more on the situation, including the internet's 'MAGA Barbie' branding of her.
She said: "Those aren’t my values, but I feel like I’ve never needed to correct people who don’t know who I am.”
When asked about the label regarding her supposed political beliefs, Sweeney responded: "It’s definitely not a comfortable thing to have people saying what you believe or think, especially when that doesn’t align with you. It’s been a weird thing having to navigate and digest, because it’s not me. None of it is me.
"And I’m having to watch it happen. I’m online and I see things, but I’m slowly pulling myself away. It’s definitely gone to a level where it’s just not healthy for me to digest it all."
The Housemaid star went on to say that she would prefer to keep the conversation on her work, saying that she has 'never been here to talk about politics' so 'this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of'.

"I’m not a political person. I’m in the arts. I’m not here to speak on politics. That’s not an area I’ve ever even imagined getting into. It’s not why I became who I am," the star said.
"I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don’t believe in hate in any form. I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another."
She added that she believes people want to 'use me as their own pawn', which she 'can’t control', but she said she's not a 'hateful person', but there's no winning if she attempts to challenge this narrative.
"There’s no winning. There’s never any winning. I just have to continue being who I am, because I know who I am. I can’t make everyone love me. I know what I stand for," Sweeney said.
The launch of the actor's new lingerie line has also come under fire as a 'stunt' to allegedly promote the brand, which could see Sweeney potentially face charges.
