Leone's family has said an investigation by local police to establish her cause of death with take place.

However, the star's talent agency, 101 Modelling - which says it handled some of her bookings - claimed her death is being treated as a 'possible home invasion homicide', though this has not been confirmed by authorities.

“We're going to take time off social media because this is difficult. But we do appreciate seeing the stories from people who knew her. We all agree she was a sweetheart, kind, and gentle. We all love her,” they continued.

UNILAD has contacted New Mexico State Police and Albuquerque police for comment.

The star posted a positive message last year.

Before her death, the star took to Instagram to share a heartbreakingly positive message about making the most out of life, as she posted a snap of herself throwing peace signs and smiling with the caption: “Go outside and just appreciate life a little extra today."

The Miami-born actor shared the message with her 300,000 followers last year.

Fans and fellow stars took to social media to share their respects after the news of her sudden death was released.

"Sad sad day waking up learning Sophia Leone has passed away. I love you baby girl,” fellow adult film star Riley Kay Carlson said on X. “You taught me so much in the industry early on. I hope you are in a better place now.”

Fellow adult actor Riley Jean, posted: “I’m so f—g sorry to anyone who knew Sophia. Her and I interacted with each other a handful of times but we were never super close.

“If anybody needs someone to talk to please feel free to send me a message. This is a hard time for all of us."

Meanwhile, one devastated fan wrote: "Oh my god I cannot believe she is gone! Her soul was just too pure and beautiful. I cannot find proper words right now."

The star's stepfather has started a GoFundMe for funeral costs.

“Prayers to her and her family,” another added.

Leone's stepfather, Mike Romero, has since made a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses, and shared that other along with funds.

The page - which mentioned 'seeking justice' for the star - reads: "I am reaching out to all of Sophia’s supporters and the community during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation no matter the amount will go straight towards the costs associated with the investigation, funeral expense’s, and any other costs that may arise as the family works through this heartbreak."
