People stunned as Shane Gillis unleashes on Trump and Epstein files during ‘crazy’ ESPYs monologue

The stand-up comic made a tongue-in-cheek joke about some of the Jeffrey Epstein files seemingly disappearing

Shane Gillis left ESPY-goers in tears of laughter with his 'savage' monologue about President Trump and the controversial Epstein files.

Last night marked the 2025 EPSY awards, which recognizes people in the sports industry for their achievements.

The likes of Simone Biles, Sunni Lee, and Ilona Maher were in attendance at the star-studded affair, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, who made her red carpet debut with her new beau Klay Thompson.

Gillis hosted the evening and, in true Gillis style, wasted no time in making some controversial jokes.

"Donald Trump wants to stage a UFC fight on the White House lawn," Gillis began. "The last time he staged a fight in DC, Mike Pence almost died."

He went on: "There was supposed to be an Epstein joke here, but I guess it got deleted. Probably deleted itself, right? Probably never existed, actually. Let's move on as a country and ignore that."

Gillis quip comes amid the Trump administration's recent U-turn on the Epstein files, despite Pam Bondi previously speaking of an apparent 'client list' of the disgraced financier being on her desk.

But said 'client list' never existed, the administration has now claimed, which has left a lot of Americans questioning if the US government is trying to cover things up.

A clip of Gillis' monologue has been shared on Reddit, where people shared their thoughts.

"That dead pan delivery… he nailed it," one said, as another branded his remarks as 'savage'.

Somebody else said: "Made me chuckle. Funny is funny."

Others joked that Trump may not threaten to revoke Gillis' American citizenship - something he's done to Rosie O'Donnell recently.

O'Donnell has long been a critic of his and has even upped sticks to Ireland following Trump's most recent election win.

Speaking about the actor, Trump penned on Truth Social: "Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"

Trump isn't thought to actually have the power to revoke her citizenship, however.

Paul A. Gowder, professor of law at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, explained to the HuffPost: "The 14 Amendment doesn’t say ‘All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside **unless they annoy the President. It’s a constitutional right."

"Not even Congress can pass a law taking away a person’s citizenship," he added.
