Donald Trump has said 'only bad people' are interested in the rumored Epstein files - and people are suspicious of his comments.
Five months on from suggesting the Epstein files were sitting on her desk, Attorney General Pam Bondi has now said a client list never existed.
Bondi claimed she was referring at the time to the case file in general, but this has done little to quieten anger from Trump's supporters, with House Speaker Mike Johnson breaking ranks yesterday (July 15) to call for the full files to be released.
Ever since Epstein's death in 2019 and Maxwell's conviction in 2021, conspiracy theories have spiralled with the suggestion the late financier and pedophile had some form of 'client list' containing the names of the rich, famous and powerful.

The Department of Justice denied that such a list exists earlier this month before adding they would not release any additional files related to the case.
Defending the decision, the POTUS wrote on Truth Social: "For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again. Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden administration."

Trump also told reporters that Bondi has 'handled it very well' on Tuesday (July 15) and it would be up to her what, if any, further details should be released.

However, the president has got everyone talking about one particular part in the interview, when a reporter asked him if Bondi had told him if his name had appeared in the files.
Trump quickly waived away the suggestion, saying: "No, no, she's given us just a very quick briefing and in terms of the credibility of the different things that they've seen and I would say that, you know these files were made up by Comey, they were made up by Obama, they were made up by Biden - we went through years of that with the Russia hoax and all the things that we had to go through, we've gone through years of it."
After stuttering in parts, Trump composed himself before adding: "But she's [Bondi] handled it very well, and it's going to be up to her whatever she thinks is credible, she should release."

Meanwhile, in other clips the president said he couldn't 'understand' why people are so interested in the Epstein files.
"He's [been] dead for a long time, he was never a big factor in terms of life."
"The credible information has been given," he continued. "Don't forget we went through years of the Mueller witch hunt and all of the different things, the Steele Dossier which was all fake, all that information was fake.
"I don't know why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It's pretty boring stuff."

The POTUS doubled down by saying 'only pretty bad people including fake news' want to keep the story alive.

"But credible information, let them give it. Anything that's credible, I would say let them have it," he added.
Over on Reddit, dozens took issue with Trump's comments.

One said: "If it's boring, release the files in whole. Shouldn't matter either way right? Bore us to tears.
"Also note that he's already trying to taint the credibility of the files by saying it's an Obama/Biden hack job."
A second said: "If there is no reason as for why MAGAts are so interested in it (as he claimed), then there's no reason as to why he won't release it."
A third took a difference stance, writing: "We all know there aren’t any files right? It’s hilarious that Trump has bungled this so badly that he now looks like he is covering up evidence against him, but the actual ‘Epstein files’ are only as real as ‘Hunter Biden’s laptop.’"
