When the cameras cut to Ryan Gosling as his friend and former co-star Emma Stone won at the Critics Choice Awards, fans quickly became convinced they'd seen a similar scene play out before.

Stone took to the stage in Los Angeles last night (14 January) as she was announced winner of the Critics Choice award for best movie actress of the year.

The honor came thanks to Stone's role in the new movie Poor Things, in which she stars alongside Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe.

Stone was up against Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sandra Hüller for Anatomy of a Fall, Greta Lee for Past Lives, Carey Mulligan for Maestro and Margot Robbie for Barbie, and claimed her win 'doesn't make any sense' as she gave her acceptance speech.

The crowd were more than happy with her win though, with Stone being applauded by the crowd as she arrived on stage.

Emma Stone said her win was 'crazy'.

Cameras cut to Gosling to get his reaction as a friend of the winner, showing The Notebook star looking happy and proud as he watched Stone accept the award.

However, many fans recognized the look as one Gosling had previously given, while acting alongside Stone.

If you're a fan of La La Land, you might know the scene I'm talking about.

Film lovers rushed to X to describe how Gosling's face as he watched Stone at the Critics Choice Awards looked just like his character Sebastian's character at the end of the 2016 musical, when the two stars encounter each other in a jazz club.

People think they've seen this face before.

One X user shared screenshots from the two scenes side-by-side, writing: "RYAN GOSLING LOOKING AT EMMA STONE AS SHE WINS BEST MOVIE ACTRESS OF THE YEAR. Do you get dejavu?"

Another wrote: "when emma stone won and the camera lingered on ryan gosling's face and it felt exactly like the ending of la la land and i wanted to jump off a cliff."

"Every time I see Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in the same place he’s staring at her like that final scene in La La Land," added a third.

While the scene might have looked familiar, Stone's speech was brand new as she claimed she 'didn't have anything' to say because she considered her win 'completely crazy'.

"This category is ridiculous... Thank you so much for this, it really, it means so much to me," she said.

"There's so many unbelievable people that I was lucky enough to work with... I'm very grateful to the critics for this."
