Miley Cyrus stepped out on a Hollywood red carpet this week sporting a new piece of jewelry that revealed a major development in her personal life.
With a flashy engagement ring on her finger, the 'Party in the USA' singer stunned paparazzi and fellow attendees at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere on Monday 1 December, with her major relationship development.
The singer confirmed her engagement to drummer Maxx Morando just a day later, after receiving a torrent of questions about the ring. In an interview with PEOPLE, Cyrus shared her surprise at managing to keep the planned nuptials private for so long.
"The detail I can share is that, for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I've been astounded that I've actually been able to have," the 33-year-old artist said yesterday (2 December).

She added that this privacy had granted her the space to make the major life decision 'and being able to kind of have more choice.'

Cyrus went on to say that her maturity helped the relationship to develop with proper boundaries, as well as to keep it under wraps.
"It's also being older, being more protective of what I'm open to sharing," she said.

Musician Morando, a Grammy-winning artist and member of the band Liily, began dating the former Hannah Montana star in 2021, just a year after she divorced Liam Hemsworth.
In the interview, Cyrus expressed her pride at finding an inner strength after 'starting over' and rebuilding after the end of her first marriage, which followed the loss of her Malibu home just two years earlier.
Making a point of connecting her own development to themes in the new Avatar film, she told PEOPLE that the screening was 'about love, family resilience and kind of reconnection and that stronger together idea'.

Sharing more of her joy at the engagement, she added: "And so I thought it was kind of perfectly thematic and aligned with where I am in my life now."
In a rare previous comment, Cyrus shared how Morando's star sign was a good portent.
"He’s a Scorpio and so is his grandfather, that’s what makes Maxx just so cool because he can sting," she said on the Sorry We're Cyrus podcast.
She added: "I couldn't be with someone [who] doesn't sting—they would have been toast already."

It is not clear when the private couple became engaged, but various entertainment publications spotted a similar ring on her finger at parties and in the background of an Instagram post from mid-November onwards.
The ring itself is likely a bespoke creation, with Morando splashing out on a pricey 14-karat yellow gold band, with a hefty cushion-cut stone.
Jewellers speaking to PEOPLE estimated that he could have dropped as much as $450,000 on a ring for his fiancée.
