We need to talk about the 'Met Gala curse' as it's happened an eerie number of times now.
The Met Gala is back again for its annual haute couture fundraising event, with it being considered fashion's biggest night in the calendar since its launch in 1948.
While the red carpeted event in New York city is to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in Manhattan, it's also great to see some out-of-the-box dazzling fashion statements - and what 'accessories' they may bring on their arms.

Indeed, stunning fits aside, the Met Gala has seen celeb aplenty debut their new beau from the carpeted steps.
Cast your mind's back to Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen - and Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez.

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, as well as Elon Musk and Grimes, all posed together in public for the very first time while the world watched.

But did you know there's actually rumors of a 'curse' for those very VIPs who dare to declare their love to the world?
Over the years, fans have spotted that some seemingly loved-up couples make their grand appearance at the event.. and end up going their separate ways afterwards.
Take for instance Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, who dated for nine months, and Selena Gomez and the Weeknd, who lasted only a few weeks more to the 10-month mark.
But they aren't alone and it is in fact so common that there's even a whole gallery dedicated to the apparent jinx.

- FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson (2015)
- Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen (2015)
- Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik (2016)
- Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston (attended separately, 2016)
- Anne Wojcicki and Alex Rodriguez (2016)
- Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (2017)
- Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez (2017)
- Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott (2018)
- Hailey Baldwin (now Bieber) and Shawn Mendes (2018)

- Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth (2019)
- Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello (2021)

Despite the evidence, many anticipate at least one new celeb pairing will make the risk today.

As Jane Owen, the founder of Jane Owen Public Relations, explained to Yahoo Entertainment: "The Met Gala is the pinnacle of high society for celebrities. The entire world's media is captivated by it, utterly, and there’s no bigger way to ‘present yourselves’ as a couple."

She added: “You can’t step onto that red carpet and not get noticed, so you know once it’s done, it’s done, and the whole world knows you are a couple.”
Yet as for the curse, celebrity matchmaker and relationship expert Carmelia Ray told the news outlet that she thought it was merely 'coincidental' though admitted it could pile on the pressure,

“Relationships don’t break up because of a red carpet appearance; they break up because of what’s happening behind the scenes," she said. "If a couple is already struggling, the spotlight and scrutiny can add pressure, but it’s rarely the root cause.
"Celebrity relationships are already under a microscope, and the extra attention post-Met Gala can add fuel to the fire, but it’s not the main reason for a breakup."
