He’s one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, but Leonardo DiCaprio often hides his face behind a mask when off-duty and has now revealed the reason why.
The Titanic star, 51, has dominated the box office for over thirty years, with hit movies such as Inception, The Revenant, and The Wolf of Wall Street, to name but a few.
He’s even managed to scoop three Golden Globes and an Academy Award for his impressive acting work. Yet, despite his level of fame, it turns out DiCaprio is far more content to fly under the radar in his personal life.
No stranger to press tours, the One Battle After Another star has no qualms with promoting his work or furthering film as an art form, but when it comes to his life away from the cameras, you’re far more likely to see the actor going incognito.

“It’s been a balance I’ve been managing my whole adult life,” he told TIME Magazine. “And still I’m not an expert.

"I think my simple philosophy is only get out there and do something when you have something to say, or you have something to show for it. Otherwise, just disappear as much as you possibly can.”
Renowned for wearing face masks or a low baseball cap to hide his face, privacy is everything to the talented star – and for a very good reason.
“I was like, OK, how do I have a long career? Because I love what I do, and I feel like the best way to have a long career is to get out of people’s face.” DiCaprio said.
Pre-2019, caps were already a staple of DiCaprio’s wardrobe, but it’s only in recent years that he has truly embraced the art of trying to obscure his incredibly famous face.
While it may come as no shock that the Django Unchained actor opts for his more low-key look while heading to coffee shops or while conducting errands, DiCaprio is so committed to stepping out of the spotlight that he even wore a baseball cap to a wedding earlier this year.

In what was easily one of the most notable weddings of the year, DiCaprio was just one of several A-listers on the guest list for Jeff Bezos’ Venice wedding.
Dressed to the nines in a tuxedo, he certainly looked the part of a regular guest, but even his low-slung black baseball cap couldn’t quite hide him from eagle-eyed paparazzi.
The scale of DiCaprio’s fame first became apparent following the release of the blockbuster Titanic back in 1997.
Up until that point, he had just been starting in the industry, although admittedly, he was already well on his way to success, having picked up nominations for both the Golden Globes and Oscars for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.
Yet it was Titanic that changed everything, with DiCaprio admitting even he had been unprepared for the attention it would conjure.
“Before Titanic, I had no conception of what any of it meant, “ he told Deadline back in 2016. “It was shocking.”
