Emma Stone has spoken out about her reaction to Jimmy Kimmel after he took a shot at her movie Poor Things at the Oscars.

It's pretty much expected now for award show hosts to poke fun at stars and movies, but there always seems to be one joke that hits a little too close to the bone.

We all remember the comment that led to Will Smith's infamous Oscars slap, and while there wasn't anything quite so dramatic at the 2024 ceremony, host Kimmel did seem to get a few sour responses to his comments.

Stone found herself in the spotlight when a montage for Poor Things was shown at the ceremony, after which Kimmel appeared to make reference to the sex scenes in the movie as he joked: "Those were all the parts of Poor Things we're allowed to show on TV."

And the star's reaction went viral as she turned to her husband to make a comment with a seemingly unimpressed look on her face.

There wasn't audio to capture what she said, but viewers became convinced she'd called Kimmel a 'pr**k' after watching the clip closely.

One viewer took to X after seeing the clip, writing: "Emma Stone being annoyed by Jimmy Kimmel's joke about Poor Things and calling him a "pr**k" on international tv— she's doing the lord's work."

"Emma Stone's reaction to Jimmy Kimmel's joke about Poor Things clips they can show on tv is priceless. she knows how cheap that was," another commented.

Just over a month after the viral moment, Stone has now addressed the matter in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and insisted she did not 'call him a pr**k'.

In fact, Stone seemed entirely confused when she heard people had been speculating about her comment, saying: "What did I say? I didn’t call him a pr**k. I wasn’t upset with him at all. I’ll have to look that up."

Nathan Fielder, who is working with Stone on a new project, added the star is 'always down for a joke', to which Stone agreed she was 'near-unoffendable'.

Whether Stone reacted badly to the comment or not, the joke was ultimately on Kimmel as Poor Things ended up winning four Oscars on the night.

Stone herself was awarded best actress for her performance as Bella Baxter, marking her second win in the category after she took the trophy in 2017 for her role in La La Land.
