Jennifer Love Hewitt calls out aging in Hollywood after fans called her 'unrecognizable'

The 44-year-old shared 'aging in Hollywood is really hard'.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has hits back at critics who claimed she looked 'unrecognizable'.

While appearing on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, the actor ripped into critics who trolled her for using a filter in a selfie to debut her new haircut.

The 44-year-old said 'aging in Hollywood is really hard'.

“It's really hard because you can't do anything right,” she continued.

The Scream star touched on the controversy, explaining she wanted to snap a quick pic to show her new dark bob.

“I was getting my hair done and I had not a stitch of makeup on so I threw on a filter,” she said.

“And it was just a filter that at the time, looked nice in the light at the salon.”

She added: “I really gave it no thought.

Love Hewitt said that the backlash was swift, with many commenting that the actor looked ‘recognizable’.

"And then another place was like, ‘She's unrecognizable and so she's gone to filters because she doesn't want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s,’” she continued.

“And I was like, ‘This is crazy right?’”

In response to the backlash, the actor said she posted even more photos with overtop filters to poke fun at the trolls, but that only inflamed the issue.

“I was like, ‘All natural, no filter,’ like trying to make fun of it, and then they came after me for that and they were like, ‘Well, now she's just defending herself,” she said.

“And I realized, I was like, ‘I can do no right.’”

The Ghost Whisperer star said while previous comments on her appearance didn’t bother her, it hits a nerve now that she’s a ‘mother to a girl’.

“It's dangerous, I think, to say to women, 'You can't look like you're not 22 to me anymore because I don't know how to take that,’” she said.

A little louder for the people at the back.
