Halle Berry has revealed why she is leaving her partner of five years hanging over his marriage proposal.
The Catwoman actress is apparently in no rush to tie the knot with her boyfriend of five years, Van Hunt, who revealed earlier this month that he had popped the question.
Speaking to Today.com, the 55-year-old record producer joined Berry on the June 4 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, where he revealed: "I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see."

Hunt added: "It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her."
But Berry, who has been far from shy about sharing some NSFW intimate moments with her partner, says she has a good reason to hold off.

She noted how the pair of them had been married to others in the past, stating: "Well, I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way."

"We don't," Berry reaffirmed.
The 58-year-old Oscar winner married baseball player David Justice in 1993 before their divorce in 1997.
She then tied the knot with Eric Benét in 2001 and separated from the singer-songwriter four years' later.
That same year, Berry started dating the French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry with whom she welcomed a daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry in 2008.

Fast forward to 2012, and the star had confirmed her engagement with the French actor, Oliver Martinez, whom she had met on the movie set of Dark Tide.
Berry and Martinez went on to share a son, Maceo-Robert, born in 2013, before going their separate ways in 2015.
Meanwhile, Hunt shares a son, Drake, from a previous relationship.

However, despite her apparent hesitation, Berry said she does plan on making it official with Hunt.
"I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married," Berry said. “And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression."
When asked when that might be, she was tight-lipped about the matter, simply stating: "Soon."
The celebrity duo have been dating since September 2020 as a source told PEOPLE at the time that they had been courting for 'several months,' during which time Hunt had met Berry's two children.

Berry herself revealed his identity when she brazenly shared a snap of herself wearing a t-shirt with his name on the front, captioning the announcement: "Now ya know..."
Then in a tell-all interview with Marie Claire, The Flintstones star delved deeper into their relationship, revealing: "It was the first time I was madly in love before I had sex," before going on to describe their bond as 'magical.'
"I wish I had met him sooner so I could have loved him longer. I just feel fulfilled. I feel happy in my life romantically, as a mother, as an artist," she then spilled to Women's Health in November 2021.
