Police share update on Nickelodeon child star after co-stars share their concerns over viral video

Devon Werkheiser has spoken about the importance of getting Tylor Chase support

Police have given more information about Nickelodeon child star Tylor Chase who has gone viral over a video showcasing his life now.

Fans of the classic Nickelodeon show, Ned’s Declassified Survival Guide, were left stunned when a video went viral on social media appearing to show Tylor Chase, who played character Martin Qwerly during the years the showed aired, 2004-2007.

In the video, Chase was spotted looking disheveled and appeared to be homeless.

This sparked mass concern online about his overall wellbeing, with many calling for him to get help and support.

His former co-star Devon Wekheiser, who played Ned, has since spoken out agreeing with the calls to get Chase help and admitting it was upsetting to see the actor in such a condition.

Speaking to TMZ, he stated that he would like to help but also noted that the situation is complicated due to unknowns regarding Chase's mental and physical wellbeing.

He said: “Tylor was a sensitive, sweet, and kind kid. It is heartbreaking to see him this way.

“I haven’t seen Tylor in almost 20 years since the show ended.”

He also addressed the calls to simply give Chase money to resolve the issue. Wekheiser claimed that he is aware that Chase does have family locally who regularly check in on him and try and help, and took issue with members of the public posting and sharing videos of Chase for views, but said he is hopeful that this latest bit of exposure will lead to a positive outcome.

He added: “It's an everyday uphill battle to course correct. It requires a ton of support and patience and time.

“My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track. We all want a happy ending.”

Riverside California Police have also spoken to the outlet and stated that officers run into Chase at least once a week.

They have added that they have repeatedly offered mental health services, substance abuse treatment and temporary housing however Chase so far has declined these offers.

Actor Shaun Weiss, who went through a similar story, has also offered Chase a bed at the San Clemente recovery facility he works with.

Weiss, most known for his role as Greg Goldberg in the three Mighty Ducks ice hockey films, went viral after images circulated showing him looking frail and thin. He eventually entered a court-ordered drug problem and has shared his battle back from addiction on social media.
