Dax Shepard criticized for talking about his children’s future sex lives

The American actor shares two daughters with Frozen actor Kristen Bell.

Dax Shepard has surprised fans with comments he made on his podcast Armchair Expert.

The American actor, known for his roles in Employee of the Month and Zathura: A Space Adventure, shared how he would probably feel when his kids are old enough to come home with significant others.

Shepard and his guest, American psychologist and author Wendy Mogel, discussed the concept of having adult kids and setting boundaries when they move back in with their parents in their older years.

Mogel, who is a clinical psychologist, said that parents need to be honest and open about not wanting to see a stranger in the kitchen in the morning.

"I'm not going to love seeing some 25-year-old dude in boxers in my kitchen," said Shepard.

He was quickly reassured by Mogel who added: "Right and you're totally entitled to that,"

Shepard then added: "It's not going to be for me. I'm very pro-sex, I hope they're very happy and adventurous,"

"Where are they supposed to have it, Dax?" Mogel asked.

He responded with a laugh, saying: "In their car like everyone else did, I guess."

The comments didn't go down well with fans, with one person describing them as 'creepy'.

Another said: "Why do 'celebrities' insist on telling everyone their personal business and then get pissed when other criticize them? How bout ya just keep your family stuff inside the family."

A third just reckoned Shepard's rules would fall on deaf ears, responding: "Yeah, good luck with that. Lol."

Shepard shares his two daughters, aged 8 and 10 with his wife and actress Kristen Bell, known for voicing Anna from the beloved Disney film Frozen.

Kristen was the first guest to feature on the Armchair Expert podcast.

Kristen confessed on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she sometimes lets her two daughters drink non-alcoholic beers.

The story was further explained by adding that Shepard, who is a recovering addict, would drink non-alcoholic beer while on walks with the children as babies.

"So, he’d pop one open, he’d have her on his chest and we’d walk and like look at the sunset," said Kristen about one of her daughters. "So, as a baby, she was like pawing at it, and sometimes she would like suck on the rim of it.

"So, I think it feels to her like something special, something daddy, something family."

Kristen said that though it might be an unusual thing to do, it's not something that the family should be criticized for.

"If anyone has a problem that I let my kids drink NA beer sometimes, that's fine with me," Kristen said, adding: "Because I'm not going to change based on what anybody else says because this is our family and not your business."

However, the actress has been left embarrassed by the situation before when one of her daughters asked a waiter if they had any non-alcoholic beer.

"Maybe we just keep that for home," Kristen recalled telling her daughter.
