David Harbour speaks out on marriage to Lily Allen amid rumors of split

The Stranger Things actor spoke out after speculation of a split

Stranger Things fans were left heartbroken earlier this year following speculation that Jim Hopper actor David Harbour had parted ways from his musician wife Lily Allen.

The pair celebrated their third wedding anniversary back in September, with 'Smile' hitmaker Allen, 38, posting a loving message to the 48-year-old Netflix star on Instagram.

But just days later, reports that the husband-and-wife duo are 'living separate lives' began doing the rounds online, after British singer Allen unfollowed Harbour on social media.

The Sun claimed at the time that an inside source had reported trouble in paradise for the showbiz duo, after Allen recently spent a hefty period of time starring in a West End production of The Pillowman in London, while Harbour was still living in the US.

The publication announced that the couple had 'barely been together for the past three months and have been living separate lives'.

They also claimed that Harbour was only seen at one performance of the theatre show 'before Lily was left by herself', and that she would spend any time off from the production 'with mates in London or her kids'.

"When she went back to the US with them, there was no sign of David," they added.

But thankfully this weekend, Stranger Things star Harbour broke his silence on rumors regarding his relationship status, pouring cold water on speculation of a split.

The actor - who is stepdad to Allen's two daughters Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10 - admitted they'd spent some time apart, but insisted it was actually a positive thing.

The pair tied the knot in Vegas in 2020.

In an interview with People, he confessed that, though his marriage was 'ultimately … very good', the recent Hollywood strikes had affected their relationship, admitting that he was often left 'sitting on the couch depressed as hell' with 'nothing to do'.

"My wife likes when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her life and me to have my life and for us not to just annoy each other by being around all the time," Harbour explained.

The Hollywood actor also spoke proudly about getting to raise their 'great' children, adding that 'as our marriage continues, we grow closer and closer'.

As mentioned, Allen's last declaration of love to her husband came following their third wedding anniversary, after which she posted a sweet tribute to him online.

The London-born singer posted a loved-up snap from their iconic Vegas wedding, in which she looked gorgeous in her unique wedding dress.

"3 years with this guy, 2nd best decision I ever made. 1st was that dress", she captioned the photo.
