Christina Aguilera cancels her Las Vegas residency after just two shows due to health issues

The singer has stepped back from her residency in Las Vegas, explaining that she was too ill to take to the stage

Christina Aguilera has announced that she is postponing her residency after just two nights.

The singer had just begun a residency in Las Vegas, but informed fans that she had to postpone performances due to ill health.

Back in October 2023 Aguilera announced that she would be doing a ten date residency at the Voltaire Belle de Nuit venue inside Venetian Resort and Casino beginning on December 30.

But she was forced to postpone the performances after just two nights due to her ill health, telling disappointed fans that she was too ill to take to the stage.

In a post to her Instagram story, she wrote: “After welcoming you all to the new year from the stage in Las Vegas, I’ve been welcomed with a new year flu!!! I am sorry to share that my two shows this weekend will be rescheduled while I rest - and I cannot wait to be back on that stage in a few weeks.”

Aguilera did not confirm when she would be able to resume the performances, but did say that she was 'proud' of the show.

She said: “I’m incredibly proud of this show and grateful for all the support and love after opening weekend! See you soon!”

The shocking announcement has come just days after she reflected on the future as the new year came in.

She said: “I couldn’t think of a better way to bid farewell to this incredible year than to spend this night in LAS VEGAS with all of you, surrounded by your energy and enthusiasm.

“Cheers to the magical moments we’ll create, the music that will fill our hearts, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.”

In October the musician said that the shows would allow audiences to 'immerse yourself in the fusion of art and music'.

She added: "I’m bringing an intimate, seductive and sophisticated new show to Las Vegas. @voltairelv will allow me to be up-close-and-personal with YOU for a truly modern twist on the performance experience."

The singer recently reflected on the double standards she faced while going on tour with Justin Timberlake in the noughties.

She said: “There was a lot of female comparisons and double standards with women,”

"Because I went on tour with Justin, we did the Stripped [&] Justified tour, and there were things where I was just like, ‘Why is it okay for him and not okay for me, you know what I mean?'"

She added: "It was so inappropriate sometimes, the things [the media] asked about that era.”
