Chris Evans is planning to act less regularly and spend more time doing what he enjoys

The actor admitted that sometimes reading a script is the 'last thing' he wants to do.

Chris Evans has revealed why he’s spending less time acting and dedicating more time to his hobbies.

The 42-year-old has made quite the name for himself after playing Captain American alongside Iron Man and Hulk.

While it was the role of the lifetime to star in what became one of the highest-grossing franchises in cinematic history, Evans admitted he was ‘initially hesitant’ to sign on.

He told GQ: “I remember in my late 20s having a real shift in how I felt on set, how I felt promoting films: a little more anxiety, a little more uncertainty.

“I just wasn’t sure if I was moving closer to myself or further away. And something inside me kept saying that I was getting further away – that something about this industry wasn’t healthy."

Evans even passed on the role a few times before he said ‘yes’.

And while he feels nothing but gratitude looking back on the Marvel years, the A-lister says he’s focused on his other projects.

According to Evans, he loves building furniture and he’s craving more of a different path these days.

“I don’t want to occupy too much space in an industry that I’ve already poured 20 years into,” he continued.

“Sometimes I wonder if I’m lacking some sort of – like, I think I’m a very driven person.

"I have a lot of energy. I wake up early, I get a lot done in a day, but it’s not always focused on acting."

As for what he would like to do with all that spare time, he has some ideas.

"I’d like to just smoke a joint, put on some music, and like, get into pottery," he said.

"You know what I mean? Seth Rogen, what he’s doing. It’s good for you, man. You just go to your workshop and make something. And how satisfying, how simple, how quotidian."

After working non-stop the previous year, the actor disclosed that he hasn’t been on a movie set for all of 2023.

However, it’s not just making furniture that keeps him busy.

Recently, the Avengers star made headlines after he tied the knot with Alba Baptista.

The two had been dating for a year before they wed in a private ceremony surrounded by close family and friends in Cape Cod, as per PEOPLE.

And it was the star-studded guest list you’d expect, with Hollywood actors, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, and Jeremy Renner, in attendance.

According to Page Six, the wedding was ‘locked down tight’ with guests made to sign non-disclosure agreements.
