Chappell Roan has hit out at the behavior of some fans who approach her in the street.

In a pair of videos posted to TikTok the 26-year-old singer-songwriter called out the intrusive behavior she has received when out in public.

A lot of public attention is part of the package of being a celebrity, but often this can become highly intrusive for someone who is just trying to go about their day.

The videos saw Roan hit out people for the way they assume that her fame means that they can treat her differently in public.

In one clip, shared with her three million TikTok followers, Roan asked: "Would you go up to a random lady and say 'can I get a photo with you?' and she's like 'no what the f**k and then you get mad at this random lady?

"Would you be offended if she says no to your time because she has her own time? Would you would you stalk her family?"

She went on to call out how 'abuse and harassment, stalking whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous'.

Roan said: "I don't care that it's normal, I don’t care that this crazy type of behavior comes along with the job, the career field I've chosen, that does not make it okay, that doesn't make it normal.

"It doesn't mean I want it, it doesn't mean I like it."

She added: "I don't want whatever the f**k you think you're supposed to be entitled to whenever you see a celebrity."

The singer went on to say that she doesn't consider it 'selfish' for her to say no to having her picture taken with someone.

She continued: "I don't give a f**k if you think it's selfish of me to say no for a photo, or for your time, or for a hug. That's not normal, that's weird.

"It's weird how people think that you know a person just because you see them online and you listen to the art they make. That's f**king weird.

"I'm allowed to say no to creepy behavior."

The 26-year-old captioned one of the videos: "Do not assume this is directed at someone or a specific encounter. This is just my side of the story and my feelings."

The clips drew a mixed response on social media, with some people less than impressed with Roan's reaction.

One wrote: "She doesn’t know being famous comes with lots of sacrifices?"

But others defended Roan, with one fan saying: "Well she does not owe y'all anything, it doesn't matter how famous she is... knowing she DID take pictures with random people, she can rightfully not be in the mood and decline stuff."

Another took a more middle ground saying that celebrities have a right to say no, but if fans are respectful then it's OK for them to ask.

They commented: "Idk how to feel about this bc she's right she has every right to say no but asking for a picture or a hug respectfully isn't creepy behavior."

UNILAD has contacted representatives for Chappell Roan for further comment.
