Calvin Harris has been hit with backlash from his fans after sharing rather intimate aspects of the birth of his son.
Thanks to social media, many fans are able to follow their favorite celebrities wherever they are and get all sorts of updates on upcoming projects or life milestones, something Calvin Harris fans are now more than a little aware of...
While the DJ let his fans know that his wife Vick Hope successfully gave birth to their son Micah in a home birth, he didn’t skimp out on the post-birth details in the Instagram photos.
He did share a sweet picture of him and Micah sitting on a sofa and had the equally heart-warming caption: “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here!

"My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.”

However, as fans scrolled on the other pictures, it became a little bit too much for some of them.
Harris also uploaded a shot of Vick’s placenta as well as images appearing to show the organ being dehydrated and turned into pills.
What are placenta pills?
Some believe the vitamins and minerals gained by eating your placenta can help replenish those lost during the birth.

Chrissy Teigen even claims she 'avoided' postpartum depression following the birth of her second child Miles by chowing down on her placenta.
There is little scientific evidence supporting the alleged health benefits of eating your placenta, however.
The CDC does say placenta pills 'should be avoided' following a case where doctors couldn't rule out the pills giving a newborn an unusual strain of bacteria.
They state: "The placenta encapsulation process does not, per se, eradicate infectious pathogens."
How have fans responded to Calvin Harris' post?
The DJ’s fans quickly commented their disapproval, especially for the lack of warning.

One user wrote: “Swiping: ‘Oh wow!…. That’s amazing….. Congratula….. WHAT THE F***!?’”
Another added: “Didn’t expect to see a full on placenta pic whilst eating my lunch today.”
With a third commenting: “Well a little disclaimer would have been nice...”
With another writing: “Congrats on the baby but the placenta pics are TMI. Whole, chopped up, or made into pill form. I could do without this info.”

Despite some fans having objections to the move, others praised Harris and his wife for attempting to end the stigma surrounding the details of childbirth, most notably of births at home.
Singer Becky Hill congratulated the couple and wrote: “Love to see the placenta!! Amazing we grow a whole new organ to provide life! Good job not wasting it either, that’s some goddess magic right there!”
With Harris’ fans adding: “Congratulations! Thank you for normalizing home birth (and placentas!) with these beautiful pictures. What a dream.”

And another writing: “A big f**k yes to sharing about homebirth and placentas!!!! Congratulations!!”
So regardless where you stand on it, I suppose congratulations are in order for the DJ and his wife.
