Billie Eilish told Lilly Allen and Miquita Oliver it was 'really hard' when she first rose to fame

Billie Eilish has opened up about one of the difficulties she has faced since she became famous.

As Shakespeare wrote in Henry IV Pt 2 - "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown," something Eilish found after her rise stratospheric rise to fame at a young age.

Many people might dream of fame, but Eilish revealed that her success left her feeling lonely and isolated.

In particular the 'What Was I Made For?' singer opened up about struggling to form meaningful friendships due to her celebrity.

Eilish appeared on the BBC podcast Miss Me? and opened up to hosts Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver about how she struggled with fame.

She said: "Well, I lost all of my friends when I got famous.

"I suddenly was famous, and I couldn't relate to anybody. It was tough. It was really hard."

The singer went on to talk about one occasion in particular which cemented just how difficult she had been finding things.

The occasion was her 20th birthday party, at which she realised that all of the people there were employed by her.

She said: "And then it was my 20th birthday and I remember looking around the room and it was only people that I employ. And all 15 years or more older than me."

To make matters worse, one of her employees quit and Eilish didn't see them again.

"And it was the worst thing that happened to me," she said. "And that made me realise like 'oh wait, this is a job.'

"If they left me, they would never see me again."

Despite this, the Oscar-winning singer has remained close to her friend Zoe.

She has also made a conscious effort to build up a circle of good friends.

"Exactly a year ago, I reconnected with a bunch of old friends and now, I have so many friends," said Eilish.

"I have a crew now! I could literally cry about it. It's been the greatest thing that's happened to me."

The singer recalled a trip to Coachella festival with her friends which left her tearful.

She said: "I was like, 'Guys, I have friends and I just love you guys so much, and it's been so long since I've had friends'. I cried… and it's literally because I actually have friendship now again."

Billie and her brother Finneas made history when they became the youngest artists in history to win two Oscars, scooping Best Original Song for 'No Time to Die' and 'What Was I Made For?'.
