Matty Healy appears to address Taylor Swift break-up saying he doesn’t need fan support

Healy previously hinted at his rumoured romance with Taylor Swift during a performance at Radio One's Big Weekend.

After his reported split from Taylor Swift, Matt Healy has told fans he doesn’t need support.

Although never confirmed by the musicians, there had been intense speculation about their rumoured romance.

Despite this, The 1975 frontman seemed to allude to their alleged relationship during a recent gig – telling fans he was okay.

The pair’s highly speculated romance was first reported in The Sun on May 3, with Healy being spotted at several of Taylor Swift's concerts.

Speculation only intensified after a photo of the singers seemingly holding hands at a restaurant went viral online, with Swifties reacting to the news on social media.

Just over a month later though, TMZ claimed Swift was single again with Entertainment Tonight also covering the story on June 5.

The outlet claimed that the singers were ‘extremely busy’ and realised that they were ‘not really compatible with each other’.

Just hours after the story broke, Healy and his bandmates took to the stage with the singer seemingly alluding to the break-up during the Vienna gig.

As Healy performed, he lavished praise on his fans for their ‘beautiful signs’ and even read a few messages out as he looked across the crowd.

One said, ‘You are loved’, with Healy then saying how grateful he was for the sweet message, as he seemingly touched upon his romance with the 'Lover' singer.

Despite the alleged relationship never being confirmed by either party, he went on to tell fans: “That was very, very kind of you and I’m sure that it’s alluding to…”

Whilst he didn’t directly refer to Swift, he did acknowledge the intense media speculation they’d endured – including a major backlash over controversial comments he’d made in the past.

Referring to this, he then revealed that he’d spent time away from the internet after the controversy.

“As you’re aware, I’m not really online at the moment, and I’m sure people have just been calling me a c*** relentlessly. And I’ve not been online,” he said pointedly.

The indie musician then said that he’d been close with his bandmates and friends, saying: “But what I have been with is with my boys.”

He then finished by telling fans that he was grateful but didn’t need the support from his followers.

“Honestly as much as I appreciate that, it’s so beautiful, and I thank you, but I don’t need it ‘cause I’ve got them,” Healy said.

It’s not the first time the lead singer has hinted at the relationship, with Healy making similar comments during Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
