Jamie Lee Curtis has hit back the claim that Tom Cruise is the leading man who single-handedly saved cinema.

The actress, 64, made the revelation on James Corden's The Late Late Show on Tuesday (28 February), when she credited cinema's revival to more than one person.

Appearing humble in her appearance, she stressed that she wasn't there to promote herself and Everything Everywhere All At Once stating, "I know you guys think I'm here - I'm sure you do - to promote the best movie of 2022."

She continued: "Which as you know, may not just be the best movie of 2022, but the best movie of a generation.

"Of course, with the best performances.

"And I'm sure you're thinking I'm here to promote the fact that I won a SAG Award this weekend and that I was nominated for an Oscar after being in the business since I was 19 - I'm now 64, do the f***ing math - but I'm not here to promote that."

The actress then appeared to hit back at widespread reports that Tom Cruise single-handedly saved cinema in the age of streaming services thanks to the success of Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed in excess of $1.4 billion around the world.

"I'm not here to talk about the fact that my movies have made $2.5 billion in box office and that Tom Cruise isn't the only one who saved show business," she said.

Curtis's latest hit, Everything Everywhere All At Once, has grossed an impressive $104,633,785 globally, adding to her seismic contribution to saving cinema.

But this wasn't everything that she had to say during the interview and she also used it as an opportunity to say farewell to Corden, who is ending his time on the show after hosting it since 2015.

"I'm here because you're a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful human being. You're a great f***ing host and we're going to miss you," she said.

"I've been here with you many times, and you are just a great human being and that is the only reason I came here."

Corden is set to step down as the host of the show after eight years at the end of April.

Curtis did not appear without a goodbye present and she presented him with miniature versions of themselves in doll form, which Corden seemed absolutely delighted with.

On the off chance that your memory needs refreshing, Curtis first became known after starring in the horror classic Halloween way back in 1978.
