Chris Pratt has spoken out about how much he was paid in his first big acting role.

Now a household name with his roles in Guardians of The Galaxy, Parks and Recreations and The Super Mario Bros Movie, like all aspiring actors, Pratt started from humble beginnings.

The 44-year-old explained that he didn't really know how to handle money when he first found fame.

So when he starred in his first proper acting gig, he didn't know what to do with his earnings, explaining that he'd never had money.

Speaking on SiriusXM's Sway In The Morning, Pratt explained that he ended up blowing his entire paycheck.

“Oh, no. No, no. I was under the impression that I would never run out of money,” he explained.

“The first paycheck I got, I was like ‘Are you serious?’ I had lived on very little money for a long time."

According to Pratt, the 'first big job' he got was a part in a TV movie.

"I got paid $75,000." he said. “... And about two months later, I was like, ‘Where’d that money go?!”

Although he blew the money in a matter of weeks, Pratt at least spent it on some pretty fun experiences.

He went on vacation to Hawaii and Australia and said he even considered buying a yacht.

“I was like, ‘Well, I’m gonna probably invest. I’m probably gonna get a yacht'," he added.

Eventually, Pratt realised he needed to slow down and think about his finances.

“It took a good amount of time for me to kind of stop and say, ‘All right, I gotta get wise about this. I have to think about, ‘What am I gonna do? How am I gonna get to the point to where if I stop working one day, I’ll still be okay? My family will be okay'," he added.

Of course, the star's success went from strength to strength and he ended up in the position where he could buy his mom a house after appearing on TV series, Everwood - which he described as being one of his greatest 'I made it' moments.

Despite his fame, Pratt opened up about why he never takes photos with fans.

Speaking to US Weekly in 2017, the actor opened up on the reality of fame following his rise to stardom, where he highlighted how it is 'tough sometimes' in reference to the attention.

He said: “It’s tough sometimes, the amount of management you need to do on things you used to do spontaneously. What I really miss is sitting down and talking to strangers who don’t know me, so we can discover each other.

“I’d say the majority of people I meet have an idea about me before they meet me. There’s something nice to being able to surprise somebody.

“If I go out and want to do normal things, I have to be comfortable disappointing people. So I just don’t take pictures with people.

“Because that’s not about enjoying the moment; it’s about stealing the moment to brag about later. So I say, ‘Would you settle for a handshake?’

"And then they take the picture anyway.”
