Need some fresh content to entertain you while you're doom scrolling in the dead of night? Maybe something to read with your cornflakes? Then let me tell you that Elon Musk has challenged Mark Zuckerberg to a literal d*ck measuring contest.

Just another day in the life of the Twitter owner.

Musk's latest challenge for Zuckerberg comes after he first suggested the pair meet in a 'cage match' to battle it out after it emerged that Zuckerberg was working on his new app, Threads, as a competitor to Twitter.

Musk and Zuck were both apparently 'dead serious' about taking on such a fight, so much so that UFC President Dana White got involved, and discussions about setting up a match in Vegas got underway.

On top of that, Musk's company Twitter warned of legal action against Meta over its release of Threads, which has proved to be a real threat with more than 100 million sign ups in less than a week.

Needless to say, then, Musk isn't happy. He obviously wants to do something to prove his power over Zuckerberg - the question is, what?

Much of the world is pretty keen on the cage match idea, but more recently Musk seems to be favouring more petty fights.

Just two days ago, he started calling the Facebook founder names, writing: "Zuck is a cuck."

A 'cuck', short for 'cuckhold', technically means cheating on someone, or having sex with someone else's partner. It doesn't have anything to do with Twitter or Threads, but it's also become a go-to insult for those more right-wing.

After the name-calling, Musk responded to his own tweet with another below-the-belt comment directed at Zuckerberg.

He wrote: "I propose a literal d**k measuring contest."

Musk's methods seem to be getting less sophisticated by the day.

It's the literal answer to the what the social media moguls have been metaphorically doing for the last few weeks now, and I suppose it would give us a quick and final result - though it's unclear exactly what impact a d*ck measuring contest would have on the actual apps being fought over.

Plus, would it take place in public? I guess we'd probably have to pay extra for that.

Either way, people are on board.

Musk's tweet has racked up more than 53,000 likes at the time of writing (11 July), though it has taken some people by surprise.

"I did not have Elon Musk wanting to inspect Mark Zuckerbergs genitals on my 2023 bingo card," one person wrote.

I don't think any of us did, to be honest, but here we are. Let the measuring commence.
