Sony has announced a brand new accessory to the PS5 console.
The device, known as the rather enigmatic 'Project Q', is currently in development.
Video released by Sony on YouTube reveals that the new device looks like a PS5 controller cut in half with a screen placed between the two halves.

However, it is not an entirely autonomous console like the Playstation Vita. This means it won't be able to run games by itself. Instead, 'Project Q' will have to be connected to a PS5 device.
From there a user can stream games directly from the console using the Wi-Fi network.

It's not clear at the moment if you will need to connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the PS5 console in order for this to work, as Sony has released limited information about the project, which is set to be released later this year.
There could be potential limitations, as the reliance on a Wi-Fi network means it's unlikely that players will be able to use the device outside of their home.
It will need to be close enough to the paired PS5 to work, which also means you will need a PS5 console as well, despite the devices being notoriously difficult to get hold of since being released.

In a video, Sony said: "Later this year we will launch a dedicated device that enables [you] to stream any game from the PS5 console using remote play over Wi-Fi. Internally known as Project Q, it has an eight-inch screen and all of the buttons and features of the dual-sense wireless controller."
These features includes things like the haptic feedback, where the controller vibrates at critical moments in a game, as well as the adaptive triggers.
Games must be installed on the PS5 and certain kinds of games will also not be compatible with the console, such as VR games.

The video also announced that Sony will be releasing a set of earbuds - the first earbuds released by Sony specifically to accompany their gaming consoles. They promise to bring 'next generation audio immersion' to players on the PS5.
Information on the new projects remains scarce, but Sony has assured fans that more information will be released 'in the near future'.
It might not be a fully remote gaming console, but 'Project Q' could offer gamers a few more options for playing games at home.
Those eight-hour Skyrim marathons will no longer occupy the TV.
