People are just finding out what really happened to Tom from Myspace

People reminiscing about Myspace are wondering what happened to Tom.

Tom from Myspace was absolutely one of the first social media greats, and was killing the game all the way back in 2003.

It came before Facebook and Twitter, and it seems as though people still carry a torch for the social network.

But people have started to reminisce and question what ever happened to founder Tom Anderson?

In 2005, Myspace became the seventh most visited website on the planet, and when you contemplate how much the landscape must have changed compared to now, it’s a scary thought.

Just at its pinnacle of enormous growth, Tom sold his network to News Corporation for $580 million, which also owns Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.

He remained president of Myspace for a few years, until he retired in 2009 after its new owners shipped him out.

This was conveniently timed to when Facebook was astronomically rising in popularity.

But it seems as though karma came back to bite the company, as News Corporation made a huge loss when they sold Myspace for $35 million in 2011.

And that was really the end of that.

So, what has the original founder been up to for all those years?

It seems as though he started investing in property, and then went traveling with a camera and became a travel photographer.

I would probably do the same if I had enough millions to last forever.

But it seems as though Tom didn’t totally leave the world of social media, as he was an advisor to a company that designed a Facebook app.

He now has a presence on all the social giants, including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

Despite still having a huge following, he’ll never quite have the 250 million friends he had on Myspace back in the day.

One person in TikTok comments said: “He was my first friend on Myspace hahaha.”

Another said: “I don’t understand how Myspace died out?

“It was so much better than Facebook!

“My page was LIT lol.”

A third added: “Myspace taught a lot of us early 2000’s nerds to code with HTML and design webpages.”

Another agreed saying: “Myspace actually taught kids about HTML and how to cut/paste the code to customize their account appearance.”

One person loved the route Tom took after his life as a founder, saying: “That’s what I’d do if I had that money.

“Just buy houses and travel.”
