Kindle owners have been urged to hand in their old devices as soon as possible to receive a hidden discount.

In case you haven't already heard, shoppers can return their old Amazon gadgets to secure 20 percent off a brand new device.

All you need to do is send back your used items via the Amazon Trade-In Program here, which enables customers to save 20 percent off new devices.

Get 36% off a brand new Kindle Paperwhite (16GB)

The Kindle Paperwhite is currently reduced from $159.99 to $134.99 for a limited time only and you can apply an additional 20 percent off on top with the Trade-In Program.

For instance, if you trade in an old Kindle, you can receive up to $85 for the Amazon Kindle Scribe, up to $35 for the Kindle Oasis, and up to $30 for the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

In addition to this, customers will also receive 20 percent off a brand new Kindle. That means, you could get the latest version for just $108 with the trade-in discount on top.

There's no time limit on the program itself, but you'll need to send your old device in as soon as possible to secure the limited-time Kindle Paperwhite discount (returns can take up to 10 business days to process).

So, how does the Amazon Trade-In Program work? Read on to find out more.

What Amazon devices can you trade in for a discount?

There's a huge range of Amazon devices eligible for the Trade-In Program. All you need to do is choose what to trade in, tell Amazon about the device, and send it off in the post.

If successful, you will receive its trade-in value via an Amazon voucher.

You will also receive 20 percent off a new Amazon device, depending on what you trade in. For instance, if you send back an old Echo Dot, you can buy a newer model. Got a Fire Stick laying around at home? You can trade it in for the new Fire TV Stick 4K Select.
