Kindle and Ring Doorbell owners have been urged to hand in their old devices by the end of the week.

In case you missed it, shoppers have until this weekend to return their old Amazon gadgets in order to secure a hidden discount.

Amazon has rolled out its trade-in program, which enables customers to save 20 percent off new devices - and while there's no time limit on the program itself, the deadline to use it on top of Black Friday discounts is looming.

So, what kind of Amazon device can you trade in, and how does the program work? Read on for everything you need to know.

By adding trade-in to the current Black Friday deal, you could secure the brand new Fire TV Stick 4K Select for just $15.99 instead of $39.99.

In a deal ending on Monday night, the Fire Stick has been slashed by 50 percent in Amazon's Black Friday sale - but the additional 20 percent off brings the price down by 60 percent.

What Amazon devices can you trade in for a discount?

There's a range of Amazon devices eligible for the trade-in program. All you need to do is choose what to trade in, tell Amazon about the device, and send it off in the post.

If successful, you will receive its trade-in value via an Amazon voucher or instant payment.

You will also receive 20 percent off a new Amazon device, such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max, as mentioned above.

But you'll need to be quick: the deal ends on Monday December 1, and with the trade-in process taking up to three days shoppers will need to send off their old devices by the end of this week if they want to cash in.

So, what Amazon devices can you trade in for a discount? From Fire Sticks and Ring Doorbells to the Echo Dot, discover some of the eligible Amazon devices below.
