Elon Musk's one-word response as Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott makes $2,004,400,000 charity donation

Elon Musk's one-word response as Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife MacKenzie Scott makes $2,004,400,000 charity donation

The world's richest man took to X to respond

Elon Musk has responded after Jeff Bezos' ex-wife made some major charitable donations over the past 12 months.

Scott became one of the richest people on the planet after splitting from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos five years ago.

The pair's divorce made history as Scott became the fourth wealthiest woman in the world, receiving a four percent stake in Amazon worth $38 billion at the time.

She then declared she'd signed up to the Giving Pledge, which encourages the world's wealthiest to commit to giving at least half of their fortunes away to charity.

Since then, the 54-year-old is said to have given away $19.2 billion to charity - although according to Forbes' rich list, the philanthropist still has a net value of $32.3 billion.

Taking to her blog Yield Giving, Scott explained how she had uploaded information about the $2,004,400,000 she had donated to 199 organisations in the calendar year.

Enterprise Community Partners received the most of all the organisations that disclosed how much they received, with Scott making a $65 million donation.

A description read: "Our mission is to make home and community places of pride, power and belonging. We focus on the greatest need, the massive shortage of affordable rental homes, to 1) increase the supply of affordable homes, 2) advance racial equity and 3) build resilient communities and ensure upward mobility for all."

She also donated $50 million to the Undue Medical Debt.

Scott's blog explained more about her donations: "Roughly 75% of them are non-profits that support the economic security and opportunity of people who are struggling by improving access to affordable housing, jobs that provide stability for themselves and their families, child development and post-secondary education, healthcare, and financial counseling, business coaching, and low-interest rate loans focused on increasing economic potential and building wealth.

"The others support well-being through other means, such as work on human rights and natural resources conservation."

But, of course, the richest man in the world, Elon Musk - who recently became the first person in history to surpass a $400 billion net worth - had something to say about it.

Quote-tweeting a post on X which claimed Scott had given money to causes which are 'sewing racial division and supporting illegal immigration,' Musk simply responded: "Concerning."

It comes as Musk was in talks to make a historic donation of $100 million to Reform, a controversial, right-wing UK political party.

As Musk isn't British, he can't legally do this, but it is believed he could use the UK arm of X to get around the law.

Politicians have called on the UK government to tighten restrictions surrounding foreign donors in light of the revelation.
